Quarky Intellio FAQ's

Quarky Intellio is a LEGO-compatible DIY robotics kit that enables you (or your child) to build, code and explore real AI, augmented reality (AR) and robotics concepts in a fun, hands-on way. It includes modular building parts, sensors/camera/mic, and is compatible with block- and Python-based coding, and is targeted at makers, innovators, and home learners.

  • Makers, tinkerers and hobbyists who love building with LEGO-style blocks and want to add AI/AR.
  • Home learners (ages 8+) and parents looking for STEM/robotics kits.
  • Educators or innovation labs are looking for an advanced robotics kit for student projects.
  • Innovators who want to experiment with AI, computer vision, AR overlays and coding in a modular way.

The kit comes in two variation, Discovery Kit for beginners and Rover Kit for advance robotics.

Discovery Kit: Hands-on AI Learning Kit – For 10+

  • Quarky Intellio
  • USB-C Cable
  • Recognition Markers (MDF/Foam)
  • AR Marker (Paper)
  • Quarky Attachment Plate (with fasteners)
  • Set of Lego Parts (Pins and Frame)

Rover Kit: Hands-on AI Learning Kit – For 10+

  • Quarky Intellio
  • USB-C Cable
  • Recognition Markers (MDF/Foam)
  • AR Marker (Paper)
  • Set of Lego Parts (for construction of Rover Car and other configurations)
  • 1x Mini Expansion Board
  • 2x LEGO L Motors
  • 1x Servo Motor

You can code using:

  • Block-based drag-and-drop coding (ideal for beginners)
  • Python scripting (for more advanced users)
  • The kit is compatible with software such as PictoBlox (and associated environment) for AI/ML, robotics and AR.
  • You’ll also get access to online tutorials and a learning portal.

Yes – the building parts and mounting platform are designed to be compatible with standard LEGO bricks and LEGO-style building systems. This means you can combine your existing bricks with Quarky Intellio’s modules for custom builds, expansions and creative projects.

It is designed for curious kids aged 10 and above, though younger children may use it with supervision. Because coding and AI/AR concepts are involved, some comfort with computers and building is beneficial. Makers and adults can also enjoy advanced use cases.

We expect to begin shipping to backers from January 2026, assuming funding and manufacturing go as planned. Backers will receive updates if there are any schedule changes.

Yes – we plan to ship globally. Shipping costs, customs duties and taxes may vary by country; backers should check their local regulations. We’ll provide estimated shipping costs during the pledge phase based on region.

You can pledge for multiple kits or add-on modules. During the survey stage (post-campaign), you’ll be able to specify quantities and shipping details. If you want to add items after pledging, you’ll be guided on how to adjust your pledge later.

  • Built-in camera, mic and AR support for modern AI/AR experiences.
  • LEGO-compatible building system for creative freedom and modularity.
  • Dual coding modes: beginner (blocks) + advanced (Python).
  • Designed for home-learning, makerspace, and school labs — bridging fun and future skills.
  • Backed by STEMpedia’s learning ecosystem (tutorials, courses, community), which adds value.

We stand behind our product. If you receive a defective unit or missing parts, contact our support team (contact details will be provided in the update). We’ll arrange for replacement parts or the unit as required. Warranty details will be provided in the support documentation.

Absolutely. The kit is ideal for classroom activities, innovation labs, home-learning sessions or maker-spaces. Teachers can integrate it into lessons on AI, robotics, AR and coding. We will also provide educator resources and lesson plans through our learning portal.

We’ll send regular updates via Kickstarter to all backers. You can also join our mailing list or community channels HERE for project updates, build tips and launch announcements.

Question

Quarky

Quarky Intellio

What is it?

A powerful AI + Robotics controller board with multiple sensors, motor ports, LEDs, Wi-Fi/BLE, and expansion options. Backbone of 12+ robotic configurations, including add-on kits like Humanoid, Mecanum, Mars Rover, IoT House, etc.

A next-gen AI module with built-in camera + speaker + microphone and LEGO-compatible casing to simplify AI/AR projects. It can be used with multiple boards and sensors like Quarky, Arduino, Raspberry pi, etc.

What can it do?

Everything — robotics, AI vision, speech, IoT, Python/Block coding, AR (using external camera modules or laptop camera), and advanced machine learning.

Everything Quarky can do, but with an enhanced AI-powered module, since the camera, mic, and speaker are built in. No extra wiring or sensors required.

Who is it for?

Students (7+), educators, robotics teams, school labs, and anyone building structured robotics projects with moving parts.

Makers, students, hobbyists, and creative innovators who want a compact AI+AR device without complex wiring.

Robotics Capability

Complete robotics platform → supports 12+ configurations, servo-based builds, mecanum drive, humanoid robots, automation, sensors, etc.

The focus is on AI, AR, Vision, and creative robotics builds.

AI/ML Capability

Complete AI suite: face detection, emotion detection, speech recognition, text recognition, Teachable Machine–style ML, Python AI scripting.

Same AI capabilities, but with a simpler user experience built in, including the camera, mic, and speaker. Ideal for quick prototypes.

AR Capability

AR through Intellio or external camera (laptop/webcam).

Strong AR focus because the built-in camera allows direct tracking, marker reading, and interactive AR experiences.

Build System

Robotics-oriented: metal chassis, wheels, brackets, servo mounts, sensors, connectors, etc.

LEGO-compatible casing for creative, modular, maker-friendly builds—not intended for complex robotics.

Ideal Projects

Self-driving car, humanoid robot, pick & place arm, line follower, obstacle detection robot, gesture-controlled robot, and automation systems.

Object detection games, AR character interactions, intelligent assistants, AI speakers, vision-based inventions, and home-learning STEM projects.

Why choose it?

For structured robotics, competitions, school curriculum, and engineering-style learning.

For makers, innovators, and kids who want rapid AI/AR invention without advanced mechanical assembly.
